Peace Forum offers hope

People of all backgrounds, all faiths and none came together in Kirkintilloch this weekend at a Peace Forum organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association (AMEA) Glasgow North.

Provost Renwick was invited to speak at the event, giving her thoughts on peace and what it means to her in today's world.

She said,

I am grateful to the Association for inviting me to their event.

Sow harmony in our communities.

I attended a similar forum many years ago and know of the wonderful work they do in their quest to sow harmony in our communities. It was a privilege to be part of the day and to hear from so many inspirational speakers.

"I reflected on my memories of the pandemic when, in the midst of illness, death, hardship and loneliness there were positives. We saw communities come together although physically apart. We saw scientists work collectively to create a vaccine and medicines. When the animals and the environment had their moment of peace – that for me is the silver lining of the exceptional time we’ve lived through and something to hold onto."
