Provost puts best foot forward to help raise almost £1,500 for Cancer Research
Thanks to the generous donations of local people, Council staff, family and friends, Provost Gillian Renwick, Depute Provost Colette McDiarmid and Councillor Pamela Marshall have raised just shy of £1,500 for Cancer Research UK.
The tenacious trio got their walking shoes on to complete the annual 10k Shine Night Walk in Glasgow, raising £1,443.75 for the popular charity.
Provost Renwick, said,
Completing the Shine Night Walk was a very special experience and we are delighted with the amount raised on this, our first charity event together.

We are grateful to everyone who contributed to support vital research into this awful disease that impacts so many of our lives. Every donation really does make a difference."
Over the last 40 years Cancer Research UK has helped double breast cancer survival and research happening in Glasgow right now includes: personalising medicine for people with bowel cancer, looking for molecular clues to detect pancreatic cancer earlier and helping more people survive bladder cancer.
Provost Renwick continued,
So many of our families have been touched by cancer and to do something to raise funds and awareness was a great honour.
