St Helen's are litter-picking champs

Pupils from some Bishopbriggs schools attended a special awards ceremony in the town recently, held by local group Betterbriggs - a team of people committed to cleaning up their town.

Depute Provost Colette McDiarmid was among the invited guests.

The event in the group's village hub was arranged to thank all those children and young people who took part in the 'Bin it for Bishy' civic pride campaign. The pupils spoke about their clean-up efforts and what they did to encourage others to dispose of their litter responsibly.

St. Helen's Primary School was named the 'Bin it for Bishy and Turnbull' litter-picking champions for 2022 with Depute Provost McDiarmid presenting them with their trophy.

She said,

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm of the young people and the obvious pride they have in their local community.

St Helen's Primary hard work

They have all worked so hard for the benefit of everyone in the town and I was very impressed with all their stories. Special congratulations to all at St. Helen's Primary who worked very hard to win the trophy."
