This weekend Provost Renwick attended the East Dunbartonshire Ethnic Minority Forum’s Summer Festival in Milngavie Town Hall.

This was their second Summer Festival and it was a huge success. The hall was filled with colour, noise and the smell of delicious food as the crowds gathered to sing, dance and enjoy everything that was on offer at the many stalls.

Provost Renwick said, “While the day was all about fun, family and friends there was of course a deeper meaning to the work that the Ethnic Minority Forum does in East Dunbartonshire throughout the year.

“Their aim is to promote equality of opportunity and racial harmony, sadly as important in today’s world as it ever was.

“The summer festival is a wonderful example of that work in practice – a day when people can come together to share stories, experiences and talents and when we can celebrate our differences as one community.

“The serious message behind the festival and everything that the Ethnic Minority Forum does is about promoting cohesion with diversity within our society. They work so hard towards achieving that goal and I want to thank them for all that they do.”
