Technical Notes 2021, Issue 170 - Public Access Defibrillator
Section
- The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Members of the Mugdock Joint Management Committee of the proposal to install a public access defibrillator at the Courtyard complex, Mugdock Country Park.
- Due to several incidents within the Park grounds and in surrounding areas requiring emergency services and a recent confirmed cardiac arrest, Park staff have been investigating the installation of a public access defibrillator at Mugdock.
- The Management Team have taken appropriate advice from the Council Health & Safety team in advance of progressing the proposal.
- No specific user training is required for staff or members of the public, but an information session will be provided to staff once the equipment is installed.
- The equipment would be available for public use and staff would not be solely responsible for operating the equipment.
- Instructions for use are clearly provided with step by step guidance for anyone who finds themselves in an emergency situation.
- Park Management have been contacted by interested Park users who have offered to fundraise for a defibrillator which costs around £1,500. Once purchased the Park would then take on the maintenance and any ongoing costs.
- Public access defibrillators are registered online and can be located through a map on the National Defibrillator Database. The National Defibrillator Database | (nddb.uk)
