Technical Notes 2021, Issue 43 - Placing Requests May 2021

1. The purpose of this technical note is to provide Elected Members with an update to the annual Education Placing Request allocation.
2. All Placing Requests received by the Council for the deadline of 15th March 2021 have been processed. The letter confirming or refusing a place has been emailed to each parent/carer that submitted an application. These letters were emailed on the 4th May 2021 (Secondary) and 5th May 2021 (Primary).
3. We have received and processed the following Placing Requests: Primary Secondary Total Total Number submitted 354 597 951 Total withdrawn / cancelled** 88 185 273 Total considered 266 412 678 Total accepted 111 (41.73%) 226 (54.85%) 337 (49.7%) Total refused 155 (58.27%) 186 (45.15%) 341 (50.3%) **Withdrawn / cancelled are recorded for various reasons, ie pupil is already catchment or parent/carer no long wishes to be considered.

4. The final date to lodge an appeal is 1st June 2021 (Secondary) and 2nd June 2021 (Primary). Once these dates have passed, the appeal hearings will then be scheduled by Legal & Democratic Services.
