Section

  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Members of the Mugdock Joint Management Committee of the opportunity for a Light Show at Mugdock Country Park during December 2022.

  2. The Park has been contacted by an events company with a land hire request to put on a Light Show/Experience in December 2022 within the Gallowhill area of the Park. The request also includes the hire of car park areas, BBQ hut and indoor space for a production office.

  3. The event would run for a total of 11 days within the period of 8th until 24th December, with the option to open on additional days should there be a demand.  Start time would be 4pm and off site by 10pm each day.  The build would start on 1st December and take down would be complete by 30th December.

  4. The Light Show would include –
  • A light trail around Gallowhill and pond area
  • Santa’s Grotto within Gallowhill BBQ Hut
  • Food vendors and marshmallow toasting
  • Rides for young children

Mugdock businesses would be given the opportunity to trade and be involved.

  1. The events company would be responsible for running and organising the light show, with a Mugdock staff member staying on site each night until close.

  2. Additional event staff would be required and the company would look to employ individuals from the local area. Security staff would be on site 24/7.

  3. Park visitors would still be able to access the light show area prior to its opening at 4pm each day.  The proposed start time should not cause much disruption to park users as it is dark, with few visitors at this time in December.

  4. From 4pm on the days the Light Show is running the event area will only be accessible to customers who have purchased a ticket for the event.  Ticket prices have yet to be confirmed.

  5. Advice is being sought from the Council’s legal team in relation to the land hire agreement which would be in place for the event.
