Section
The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Members of a burst water main affecting certain postcodes within East Dunbartonshire.
The Council’s Democratic Services team, as part of its civil contingencies and resilience remit, has this morning received a call from Scottish Water to advise of a burst water main in Stockiemuir Road.
The burst main has the potential to affect homes in West Dunbartonshire, Bearsden and Milngavie (G61 and G62). Some properties may experience low water pressure or others may have no water if, for example, they are situated on a hill.
Scottish Water teams are currently trying to fix the mains, which is a 21 inch pipe. They have advised that there are three local water tank sources for the area which should have enough water for approximately 3 hours. At the time of contacting the Council, Scottish Water had received 10 calls from customers.
The Democratic Services Team will continue to liaise with Scottish Water and monitor the situation. If an incident is declared then appropriate support will be provided and necessary action taken.
A further Technical Note will be issued to Members in the event of any significant updates.
