Section
This technical note is to advise members that Meadowburn Primary School was evacuated as a precautionary measure this morning due to staff members reporting a small of gas.
The Building Manager immediately called the emergency response team and ensured that the area was well ventilated. Meanwhile, the emergency evacuation plan was implemented at 9.55am.
All children and staff staff were safely evacuated to the back playground, where they remained for 55 minutes.
The emergency service provider, Scottish Gas Network (SGN) attended, as per Council procedures, and carried out the following safety checks:
Tightness tests for gas leaks, no gas detected.
Entered the school building to detect natural gas and carbon monoxide, no gas and CO detected
Produced the underground services drawings; this was confirmed to be safe, with further tests carried out and no leaks detected.
Estates and Health & Safety also attended the site. The school has recently had new boilers installed, sited in a remote plant room and are in safe, working condition.
Our council gas contractors also carried out a tightness test (certificate to be received later today by Estates), re-affirming that there were no leaks.
Children and staff re-entered school at 10:50am.
The Head Teacher maintained regular contact with the Education Service throughout and updated parents and carers via Groupcall.
