Section

1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to the arrangements for final approval of the Council’s Annual Accounts for financial year 2021/22.

2.  Members will recall that at its Statutory Meeting on 19 May 2022, Council delegated authority to the Chief Solicitor & Monitoring Officer to finalise dates for a special meeting of the Audit & Risk Management Committee, to take place in the autumn and to consider the 2021/22 Annual Accounts.  Following consultation with the Convener of the Audit & Risk Management Committee, it is proposed that this meeting will take place on Tuesday 25 October 2022 at 5.30pm

3. Members will be aware that there is a scheduled meeting of the Audit & Risk Management Committee on Thursday 20 October.  Unfortunately, the timescale for finalising the Annual Accounts is such that it will not be possible to present them to this meeting.

4.  In order to minimise the impact on Members, the special meeting of the Audit & Risk Management Committee on 25 October will be fully virtual.  This means that Members will not be required to attend at the Chambers for what is traditionally a straightforward meeting.

5.  In summary, the arrangements for the Audit & Risk Management Committee in October are as follows –

  • Thursday 20 October @ 5.30pm – Scheduled meeting which will be hybrid thereby allowing Members and Officers to participate in person or virtually
  • Tuesday 25 October @ 5.30pm – Special Meeting to finalise the Annual Accounts for 2021/22 which will be fully virtual, requiring Members and Officers to participate online.
