This Technical Note has been written to inform Elected Members of the temporary closing of the play park at Luggie Park, Kirkintilloch.
The Play Park has been subject to recent vandalism, which has caused damage to 3 pieces of play equipment and safety surfacing. The damaged items have been removed and replacement parts have been ordered. A report has been made to Police Scotland. This represents the second record of fire damage to the Council’s Play Park resource in the local area over a period of 2 weeks.
A report of foul water in the woodland area near Waverley Park has been reported to Scottish Water. The issue has been investigated by Scottish Water on Friday 18th November 2022 with confirmation that the work has been confirmed as an urgent repair.
Regrettably, no timescale has been given for the repairs, but Council Officers will continue to liaise with Scottish Water (the repair job reference being CAS 2003861-X9L4C) regarding the repair and clean up.
Taking into account both the vandalism sustained and recent incident of foul water nearby, the Streetscene Service has temporarily closed the play area to ensure the site is safe for site users. This decision will regularly be reviewed to ensure access to play is provided as soon as possible.
