Section

1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to advise Members of plans to hold an external stakeholder event to share progress on the production of the Climate Action Plan (CAP) and to help inform the next stage of its development.

2.  The programme for CAP preparation, which was agreed by Council on 17 June 2021 (PNCA/046/21/NU), states that external consultation will be undertaken at the current opportunities assessment stage (‘Stage D’).

3. An engagement event for key local community groups and business contacts will be held at 6-8pm on Tuesday 28 June. Following the provision of brief background information, an update will be shared in relation to the CAP baselining work carried out already, and attendees will then be invited to share ideas and questions in relation to opportunities for actions that will help to achieve net zero emissions across East Dunbartonshire and to build local climate resilience.

4. This event will be co-hosted by Land Planning and Development and Ricardo, who are providing consultancy support for the development of the CAP.  It will be held online and will be labelled as ‘Climate Conversation Stage 2’, to link to and build on the early community group and business engagement undertaken in 2021 via Stage 1 of the Climate Conversation.

Please contact Niall Urquhart (07557 541 222), should you wish to discuss the event.
