Technical Notes 2023, Issue 106 - Defibrillators – 3rd parties
Section
The purpose of this technical note is to provide Elected Members with an update on third party provision of public access defibrillators.
Council approved Report No. PNCA-043-23-AB - UPDATE ON PROVISION OF PUBLIC ACCESS DEFIBRILLATORS in April 2023. Included within that report was a commitment by Officers to write to several third party organisations to encourage them to install public access defibrillators on their assets.
The following details the organisations contacted and responses received:
Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS)
SFRS do not have any public access defibrillators in any of their Fire Stations within Easy Dunbartonshire. They do have defibrillators on each of their front-line appliances throughout Scotland, however these form part of their front line operational response and therefore could not be accessed by members of the public or added to any public database.
Police Scotland (PS)
PS have no public access defibrillators installed in either of their Police Stations within East Dunbartonshire, however they do have officers who have these within their vehicles. These cannot be accessed by the public nor are they added to the public database.
Scottish Canals
A local charity recently installed one at Cadder which is managed by the charity.
Scotrail
A public access defibrillator has been installed at Bishopbriggs Train Station
All 4 organisations noted above have advised that they have no immediate plans to install any further defibrillators on/in their assets located within East Dunbartonshire.
Caledonian Properties/Derwent London
The owners of Strathkelvin Retail Park have confirmed there are 2 registered defibrillators at the Park; one located in B&Q and the other in the management office. They have plans to install a further defibrillator at Easter Cadder once their new estate office is completed at that location within the next year.
