    Section

    1. The purpose of this technical note is to provide Members with notification of a footbridge closure within Merkland Nature Reserve, in Kirkintilloch.

    2. The footbridge in question, ‘FB03 – Bute Rd’, is an aging structure and through biennial inspection, multiple defects were highlighted. Repair of these defects is deemed uneconomical and therefore the footbridge is to be replaced.

    3. The footbridge replacement works are due to commence on 10th July 2023 for a period of approximately four weeks. During this time the footbridge will be closed and therefore the entrance to Merkland Nature Reserve from Bute Rd will also be closed.

    4. A diversion is available, entering Merkland Nature Reserve from Iona Way, which lies 160m to the West of the Bute Rd entrance.
