This technical note is provided in response to a question posed at the meeting of the Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee of 26 January 2023 on Item 21, EPB/008/23/FS - Market Road and Chryston Road, Kirkintilloch – Three Flat Top Speed Tables.
The question posed was, whether the flat top speed tables mentioned in the report would be introduced after the houses within the development had been built, as there was a concern that there was currently speeding problems on the road.
The installation of the flat top speed tables is being undertaken by the housing developer as part of the overall development. The Planning Decision Notice for TP/ED/21/0365 states, the proposed off-site road works on Market Road, Chryston Road and Old Duntiblae Road as detailed on EDC Ref: PL104, shall be completed in full prior to the first occupation of the development.
In addition, the raised speed table show on the developers’ plans and the Council Roads Development Officer (RDO) confirmed with the developer that the raised tables will be installed towards the end of the 6-month road closure which commences on Monday, 13 February 2023.
