  1. Updates where given to Elected Members on the Campsie Memorial Hall Project in Report PNCA/098/21/DG.  Officers have been working to try secure external funding to support the delivery of improvements at the Hall as part of ongoing regeneration work in the town centre.

  2. Officers have been working in partnership with the Campsie Memorial Hall Trust (CMHT) to develop the project. The project would deliver the refurbishment the original Hall to provide more modern and flexible spaces, and provide a more attractive and welcoming frontage to the Main Street. The project also aims to provide a more sustainable building through exploration of use of renewable energy and higher standards of insulation.

  3. The estimated cost of the project overall is in the region of £1.9m. Officers applied to the Scottish Government Regeneration Capital Grant Fund in the summer of 2022 and have secured £950,000 for the project.  This funding complements the £600,000 allocation from the Council of capital (Report PNCA/098/21/DG). Other sources of external funding are in place and are being investigated.

  4. Next steps for the project will be to enable the appointment of architects to develop detailed designs, cost plan and programme to progress the proposal towards a potential site start in 2023/24.
