Section

  1. Scotland’s Census was carried out in March 2022.  National Records of Scotland (NRS) have published a range of statistics reflecting the data collected at local authority level. The releases include population, household numbers, ethnic group, language, religion and for the first time data relating to UK Armed Forces veterans.
  2. Appendix 1 contains a summary of statistics for East Dunbartonshire from the 2022 census, including comparisons over time and with the Scottish average where available. This information will be used to inform future strategic planning and policy development activity.
  3. Further information is available on the Scotland’s Census website https://www.scotlandscensus.gov.uk/.  Later in the year NRS will release census data on further topics including housing, employment, sexual orientation and health as well as more detailed information at a sub local authority level which will be shared with Elected Members when it becomes available.
