Section

  1. Local Authorities are legally required to appoint a professionally qualified CSWO under section 3 of the Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968. The overall objective of the CSWO is to ensure the provision of effective professional advice to Local Authorities and Integration Authorities in relation to the delivery of social work services as outlined in legislation.

  2. This function has been held by Caroline Sinclair since Autumn 2018. Caroline will depart from her post on 26 July 2024; therefore arrangements have been made to secure a suitable new appointment.

  3. Following an appropriate internal process, David Aitken, Head of Adult Services, and current Deputy Chief Social Work Officer, will formally assume the duties of the CSWO from 15 July 2024.

  4. I am sure you will join me in wishing David every success.
