Section

  1. Further to Technical Note 135 on Thursday 1 August 2024, the purpose of this technical note is to update Elected Members on plans in place in relation to the notification of Industrial Action by GMB  in Fleet Services (Workshop) and Waste services (including Mavis Valley Recycling Centre) from 14 to 21 August.

  2. Public communications in relation to strike action were issued on Thursday 8 August on the Council website and through social media, confirming the following for the duration of the strike action:

  • The suspension of all domestic and commercial waste collections
  • The closure of Mavis Valley Household Recycling Centre
  • The suspension of special (bulk) uplifts
  1. Full details are available on a dedicated strike page on the Council website. Public messaging will continue in the lead up to strike action and during the strike, with further messaging following the strike in relation to resuming services and catch-up arrangements.
  2. Public messaging includes asking residents to share information with family and neighbours who may not have access to website or social media communications.
  3. Employee communications were issued on 9 August advising of the notification of strike action and a further Employee communication will be issued this afternoon confirming arrangements for those employees that the strike action relates to.
