This Technical Note has been written to update Elected Members on a range of priority tree works requiring to be undertaken within Lennox Park Milngavie
A tree survey conducted earlier in the year identified a range of tree works required within the Park. This mostly involves tree removals however; pruning works will also be undertaken to a handful of specimens on site. Around 25 trees will be impacted as a consequence of the works.
Most of the trees to be removed are Ash Species (Fraxinus Excelsior) and have been impacted by the dieback disease which is prevalent across both the UK and Scotland. The disease is likely to affect the vast majority of Ash Trees in the district over the next 5 years.
Works will commence on Monday, 19th August and will take approximately 1 week however; this is dependent on weather conditions during the period of the works. Localised path closures will be implemented to ensure all relevant health and safety measures are in place however, this will be kept to a minimum in terms of both length and time - this to cause the minimum disruption to Park users.
Officers will review tree planting opportunities during the winter period to replace the specimens removed.
