Members will be aware that at the meeting of the Place Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee on 24 August 2023 there was agreement to increase the Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) value for parking contraventions. (PNCA/086/23/CL).
This was in response to new national guidelines issued by the Scottish Government after consultation with the public and local authorities, and agreement with CoSLA
Accordingly, drivers who commit a parking offence in East Dunbartonshire will see an increased cost in the PCN from Wednesday 4 September 2024.
The PCN will rise from £60 to £100 with a discount to £50 if paid within the first 14 days and increasing to £150 if not paid after 56 days. This is the first increase since 2014.
It is hoped that the increase will act as a deterrent to many motorists who fail to park their vehicles in a safe and considerate way.
A local communications strategy will commence next week to raise awareness across East Dunbartonshire.
