The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members on the annual renewal inspection of the Food for Life Served Here Bronze Award by the Soil Association and a Food For Life Early Years application.
Facilities Management received the Food For Life Served Here Bronze award for Primary schools in December 2022 and an annual renewal inspection is carried out to verify continued compliance with Food For Life Served Here standards.
As part of the annual renewal process, an application was submitted for a Food For Life Early Years award. This involved analysis of the Nursery lunch menu to demonstrate compliance with national food and drink guidelines and regulations, a review of product information, verification of all nutritional and allergen menu content and a review of all information against set criteria.
The annual renewal for Primary schools consisted of an inspection of records, documents and processes. Compliance was verified, resulting in the Food For Life Served Here Bronze award being renewed and certificate being issued.
The Soil Association evaluated all evidence submitted regarding the application for all Early Years settings and the Food For Life Served Here Bronze Award has since been awarded. This award demonstrates our commitment to provide nutritious food that plays a crucial role in a child’s development as well as creating the foundations for a lifetime of good food choices.
Facilities Management will engage with Corporate Communications and Education to promote this achievement through the Council’s social media platforms.
