Technical Notes 2024, Issue 75 - Canniesburn Toll Improvement Project – Project update
Section
- The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Elected Members with further updates on the Canniesburn Toll Improvement Project (‘the Project’). This follows recent updates in Technical Notes No. 071-24 of 23rd April 2024, 055-24 of 3rd April 2024, 040-24 of 12th March 2024, and 027-24 of 21st February 2024.
- The previous Technical Note provided on 23rd April 2024 (No. 071-24) advised that ongoing Traffic Management measures are required to facilitate utility works. The current Traffic Management includes some lane closures, and the closure of only a small section of road within the roundabout, between Switchback Northbound and Southbound.
- The Technical Note of 23rd April 2024 (No. 071-24) advised the Traffic Management would initially extend to 31st May 2024 and likely continue to the end of June 2024, subject to utility provider programming. Further extensions to the current Traffic Management measures past the end of June are not currently envisaged. Officers will however continue to provide updates via Technical Notes and will highlight if any further extension to the traffic management is required to support the requirements of utility providers and the delivery of the project.
- Other works will continue in and around this area of the roundabout. At this stage there are no anticipated change to the overall project completion date of the end of September 2024, as reported in Technical Note No. 055-24.
Next steps
- Officers will continue to update Elected Members via Technical Notes on the progression of the project including programme.
