Section

  1. This is the latest in a series of Technical Notes to update Members on the ongoing planning and arrangements for the upcoming UK Parliamentary election.

  2. Members will be aware that we are now formally in the Pre-Election period.  This means that both Members and Officers must pay particular regard to various legislation and Codes which limit activity so as to avoid any perception of interference in the election or attempting to unduly influence voters whilst using Council resources.

  3. In order to assist Members and Officers, detailed pre-election guidance has been developed and is attached for information. This guidance will be disseminated to all relevant officers for awareness.

  4. In addition to providing clear and helpful direction to Members and Officers, it is hoped that the guidance will provide assurance that the Council takes these matters seriously and at all times seeks to operate in a manner which is non-political, transparent, and consistent.
