Technical Notes 2024, Issue 96 - Canniesburn Toll Improvement Project – Project update
Section
- The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Elected Members with further updates on the Canniesburn Toll Improvement Project (‘the Project’). This follows recent updates in Technical Notes No. 075-24 of 3rd May 2024, 071-24 of 23rd April 2024, and 055-24 of 3rd April 2024.
- The previous Technical Note provided on 3rd May 2024 (No. 075-24) advised that ongoing Traffic Management measures including the closure of a small section of road within the roundabout, between Switchback Northbound and Southbound were required to the end of June to allow utility infrastructure to be implemented. Officers have now advised that this Traffic Management will be lifted in the coming weeks and before 18th June 2024.
- Following this date, no further full road closures are required within the roundabout until resurfacing at the end of the programme. Lane closures will remain in place on the Toll.
- To allow work to take place on the next phase of the programme, sections of Moore Drive and the unnamed service road adjacent to Drymen Road will require to be closed from 18th June 2024 to 19th August 2024.
- Resident’s access to these roads will be maintained and affected residents will be letter dropped two weeks in advance of the closure.
- Officers will continue to provide updates via Technical Notes and will highlight if any further extension or alterations to the traffic management is required to support the delivery of the project.
- Please note a planned closure of the site has been agreed between 12 July 2024 and 28 July 2024 for the Glasgow Fair Fortnight. This is an annual occurrence for the appointed contractor’s entire business and formed part of the work programme agreed following the design changes detailed in Technical Note 055-24. Officers will continue to monitor the site during this period to ensure it remains tidy and safe.
