  • Subject:

Bishopbriggs Park Play Area – Requirement to Retender

  • Responsible Officer:

Stephen Egan, Team Leader - Streetscene Technical Support

  • Publication:

This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.

  • This Technical Note has been written to update Elected Members on the requirement to retender the designs for the new Bishopbriggs Play Area within Bishopbriggs Park
  • Bishopbriggs Park has received a significant investment for the creation of a new Destination Play area – this from a combination of funders, predominantly Scottish Government play area allocation and East Dunbartonshire Council capital allocation
  • Initial consultation was undertaken in July this year with a view to progressing the project in September/October 2025. Regrettably, an irregularity has been noted within the tendering process and there is a requirement for companies within the framework to resubmit designs as part of the new process.
  • Despite the excellent response to the initial public vote, the designs will be voted for again by the public as part of the retendering process and details around this will be confirmed in due course
  • The successful design will progress as soon as possible to construction with the anticipation that the new facility will be in place for April 2026
  • In should be noted that the funding is committed and in place. The requirement to retender delays the delivery of the project, but the Council/Service is fully committed to delivery of the project and wider improvements to Bishopbriggs Park.
