This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.
The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to arrangements for a special meeting of the Place Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee.
Members will be aware that the Council is progressing arrangements to introduce the enforcement of the prohibition of pavement parking. Before enforcement can commence, it is necessary for the Council to promote exemptions for those streets meeting the current criteria.
Officers previously reported to Council setting out the criteria and the 13 streets identified for exemption at this time. The statutory process for approving the exemptions is ongoing and the next stage is to report the outcome of the public consultation to Members and seek final approval.
Following consultaiton with the Convener of the Place Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee., it has been agreed that a special meeting of the Place Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee will take place on Tuesday 4 March at 5.30pm. This meeting will receive 2 reports – the first dealing with the exemption process and the second providing a general update on progress.
Subject to Committee’s approval, information regarding the implementation of the prohibition of pavement parking and exempt streets will be issued along with Council Tax bills, thereby ensuring that all households in East Dunbartonshire receive early warning of the forthcoming enforcement of the prohibition.
The Agenda for the special meeting of the Place Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee will be issued on Tuesday 25 February 2025.
