This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Members. Its contents may be disclosed or shared out with the Council.

  • The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Elected Members with an update on the A807 Active Travel Corridor project (‘the Project’).
  • Following approval from the Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, construction works started on Section 1a of the project on Auchenhowie Road on 4 November 2024.
  • The construction phase of Section 1a is being funded by Tier 1 and Tier 2 of Transport Scotland’s Active Travel Infrastructure Fund. This project supports the national active travel vision of enabling walking, wheeling and cycling to be the most popular mode of travel for short, everyday journeys. Transport Scotland’s active travel funding supports new and upgraded infrastructure that makes active travel safer, easier, and more convenient.
  • The works include widening the existing footway by utilising the existing grass verge, replacing the existing kerbing along the front of the footway, and junction improvements at Dowan Road including the installation of street lighting.
  • The works programme was split into six phases. Phase 1-5 are now complete. Works started on Monday 24 March on Phase 6 which is the final phase of works, on the last section north of the Allander Toll roundabout.
  • Full Traffic Management is in place on the roundabout as shown on the below diagrams. With works of this nature, delays are expected, however, the temporary traffic lights are manually controlled between 7am-7pm each day to mitigate any disruption.
  • Advance warning signs were in place on the roundabout to advise road users of the works starting on Monday 24 March, with a duration of two weeks.

  • The Council’s contractor, Luddon Construction Limited, is aiming to complete the works within this timeframe and every effort is being made to reduce this timeline where possible.

Next steps

  • Complete any required defects works and conclude the maintenance period, one year post completion.
  • The Traffic & Transport team continues to progress work on designs for Section 1b, which will connect Section 1a to Milngavie railway station. Work to procure a design consultant for Sections 2 and 3 is ongoing.
  • Officers will continue to provide any further updates via Technical Notes, if required.
