    This Technical Note will be published on the Council’s website following circulation to Member. Its contents may be disclosed or shared outwith the Council.

  • The purpose of this technical note is to inform Members of the exceptional school closure programme to facilitate the decant of Milngavie Primary to the temporary location of St Nicholas Primary and Torrance Primary for August 2025 prior to the start of the new academic session. The Education Service have been developing the transition plan to support all three schools in preparation for this temporary move
  • It has been standard practice across Scotland for Councils to seek approval from the Scottish Ministers to close schools early to facilitate the transfer of resources and associated equipment to new school facilities
  • Permission will be requested from Scottish Ministers to close Milngavie Primary School for one day at the end of this session 2025. Milngavie Primary School will close to pupils on Tuesday 24 June 2025 at 1pm and staff will have the afternoon of that day and the following morning, Wednesday 25 June 2025, to pack learning and teaching resources
  • Resources will be moved to St. Nicholas and Torrance Primary School allowing for staff to unpack resources and prepare the new session in both St Nicholas and Torrance Primary Schools. The schools have two in-service days, 12 & 13 August 2025, to support the unpacking and preparation of resources for pupils returning on Thursday 14 August 2025
  • Letters will be issued to staff and parents of Milngavie Primary School to inform them of the exceptional closure dates.
