Details

 

  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation the Second Review of Scottish Parliament Boundaries carried out by Boundaries Scotland .
  2. Officers have recently received correspondence from Boundaries Scotland confirming that it has published its report on the Second Review of the Scottish Parliament Boundaries.
  3. The published report has been submitted to the Scottish Government. A copy of the report, including the Commission’s recommendations, and proposed boundaries
  4. The review was carried out under the Scotland Act 1998, which requires it to be complete by 1st May 2025. It seeks to address significant population movement within Scotland.
  5. Scottish Ministers are now required to lay the report and a draft Order in Council giving effect to the recommendations, before the Scottish Parliament for approval. If approved, the boundaries within the report will come into force at the next Scottish Parliament election which is anticipated to be 7th May 2026.
