  • This Technical Note is to update Elected Members with regards to the election process for Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) elections to be held between the 2nd-15th November
  • The SYP acts as the democratically elected voice for young people aged 14-25 across Scotland
  • Elections for the SYP take place every 2/3 years and East Dunbartonshire is entitled to elect 3 Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament.  Two are elected for Strathkelvin and Bearden and one for Clydebank and Milngavie (one is also elected through West Dunbartonshire for Clydebank and Milngavie)
  • For the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency, 14 young people have nominated themselves to stand for election and three are standing in the Clydebank and Milngavie constituency.  This represents an increase in young people standing from the last elections in 2023
  • The election result will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, 17 November at 6pm in the East Dunbartonshire Campus, Kirkintilloch.  All elected members will be invited to attend
