Who will process the personal information?

The Council’s cashless catering system uses a scan of the pupil’s finger to generate a unique number. To pay for a school meal, a machine will scan the pupil’s finger and match it to that unique number. This will process the payment using the personal information already provided for the purpose of providing school meals. No image of the fingerprint is retained by the Council. The personal information is solely the unique number which will be processed by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Why will the personal information processed?

The unique number will be used to allow for the payment of school meals.

The personal information will only be accessed by those Council employees carrying out this purpose.

What is the legal basis for us to process Your Information?

The use of the personal data is processed on the basis of the consent you have given to the Council.

How long will the personal information be kept?

The unique number will retained for the period of time that you choose to use the cashless catering service.
