The Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011 was implemented on 1st January 2013 and places a range of legislative requirements on public authorities to manage their corporate records efficiently to evidence compliance with the act.

East Dunbartonshire Council has made considerable progress how information is disposed and retained adopting the Scottish Council on Archive Records Retention Schedules (SCARRs).

The attached forms should be completed when preparing and registering records for storage within the Council's Central Records Store (CRS), requesting stored records from the CRS or returning records previously stored. Services should refer to the SCARRs retention schedule for guidance prior to disposal of records a destruction form should be completed and authorised by line manager.
