We announced last year that we are participating in the Equally Safe at Work accreditation programme, reaffirming our commitment to progressing gender equality in the workplace.

Part of the programme includes inviting members of the workforce to complete a confidential survey by Close the Gap.

Close the Gap developed the Equally Safe at Work programme to support employers in addressing women’s inequality at work.

The survey aims to capture your experiences. Close the Gap will use the data to build a picture of current practices and to gain an understanding of the priorities of our workforce. There is still time to complete the survey – with it remaining open for responses until Friday 23 January 2026.

As mentioned, all responses are confidential, will not be used to identify you and no individual responses will be shared with the Council. Close the Gap will only use the data as part of its evaluation and an anonymised summary will be shared with our Equally Safe at Work steering group.

Our steering group is made up of representatives from various teams across the Council, and will be leading and progressing the programme to ensure we achieve Bronze accreditation.

The survey asks questions about violence against women. A trigger warning will appear ahead of this section so please bear this in mind before completing the survey.

Complete the Close the Gap employee survey.

Thank you,

Ann Davie
