“He is a class guy. I like having someone to talk to that wants to be there. He is there for me, and we have a lot of laughs too.”
Those are the words of an S5 student from St Ninian’s High School who is being mentored by a volunteer to help them stay on at school and achieve their potential.
We work in partnership with MCR Pathways who have a school based mentoring programme all over the UK, including at these eight locations in East Dunbartonshire:
- Bearsden Academy
- Douglas Academy
- Bishopbriggs Academy
- Turnbull High School
- Lenzie Academy
- Kirkintilloch High School
- St Ninian's High School
- East Dunbartonshire Secondary Wellbeing.
Many of you are already involved but there is an urgent need for more volunteers here. Could you be the bridge between a young person and their future?
By you simply being there and offering support, young people are more likely to stay on at school, achieve their qualifications and go onto a positive post-school destination. All it takes is one hour a week during the school term. All mentors receive full training and ongoing support, enabling them to draw on their own life experiences and personal qualities to make a meaningful difference.
