Children in Bearsden are now spinning, sliding and swinging their way through spring, thanks to the fantastic transformation of Mosshead Play Area.

Boasting an array of new equipment, the park design was voted for by the community and has been given the seal of approval by local children.

The new play area – which was funded by the Scottish Government’s Play Park Renewal Programme – incorporates areas for older children and toddlers that are set to keep them entertained.

This is a fantastic community facility which I am sure will bring smiles to local children and families for many years to come.

"So much thought has gone into the design and construction and there is so much for children of all ages to enjoy .The range and quality of equipment is really superb and will provide a safe and fun environment.

"It is great to see youngsters already having fun on all the new equipment. Early feedback about the facility has been hugely positive with large amounts of children and their parents enjoying what is on offer.

"This play area was built as a direct result of a consultation involving children and residents from the Bearsden area. The fact that the final design was chosen by the community means that all the children and young people who participated can feel ownership over the final result."

The Council carried out an extensive online consultation giving residents the opportunity to choose a new play area design for Mosshead.

The consultation exercise attracted a huge number of votes on the Council’s website with Option 1 the clear favourite.

Work at the play area was carried out in a manner designed to combat the problematic water issues which so badly affected the previous play area.

Bright new attractive safety surfacing has been installed at the play area, which is accessed directly from the existing pathway linking Mosshead Road to Stockiemuir Avenue.

It boosts a number of new additions including two flat swings, a cradle swing, the ever popular basket swing and an inclusive roller coaster swing.

In addition to this there is a  large triple tower multiplay unit, seesaw, balance beam and rope walk unit, spinning bowl, two "springies", a toddler multiplay unit and a wheelchair inclusive roundabout.
