A fantastic array of art – capturing magical moments in time, portraits and landscapes – is currently on offer at the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch.
The Annual Art Exhibition is a celebration of inspiration, insight and technique – including works by talents from the Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs, Lenzie and Campsie areas. You can enjoy the show until 7 September 2023.
The exhibition was created by acclaimed artist Dick Stevenson to showcase local amateur and professional artists – growing from a competition in his small Townhead gallery to a full-scale celebration at the Auld Kirk.
The 51st Annual Art Exhibition prizegiving ceremony took place recently:
- The Anne Stevenson Memorial Prize for best watercolour, named after Mr Stevenson’s late first wife, was awarded to John Gahagan (pictured top) for the painting 'Tron Church'
- The East Dunbartonshire’s Purchase Prize was awarded to Russell Angus (pictured middle) for 'Seilebost Beach, Harris'
- The Jack Lucas Memorial Award (second place) went to Alan Finnie (pictured below), for the painting 'St Mary’s & Canal'
This year's show – which is supported by the Auld Kirk and East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust – features more than 40 captivating works.
As well as being an inspirational and engaging experience, it is also a great opportunity to purchase an original and unique piece of art. I hope as many people as possible take the chance to drop in."
The 51st Annual Art Exhibition is on until 7 September at the Auld Kirk Museum, Cowgate, Kirkintilloch, G66 1HN. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. Admission is free.
