Thinking about a new challenge for the new year? January is the perfect time for you to get your finances into shape and learn new skills - and the Council is offering the chance to do this - for free!

The Council’s Count Me in Team is delivering a variety of numeracy and maths learning opportunities to local adults and families starting in January 2024. The team, made up of four experienced primary school teachers from across the Council area, are keen to help adults who want to:

  • further develop their maths skills for learning, life and work
  • increase their confidence with everyday numeracy through money management and cooking classes
  • support their child with their numeracy development
  • learn how schools now teach numeracy.

Convener of Education, Councillor Lynda Williamson said, “Last year 60 people aged 19+ took advantage of the Council’s Count Me In programme, and we are looking to offer more opportunities in 2024. Starting in January, free day time and evening numeracy and maths classes will be held at different locations in East Dunbartonshire. A full list of classes available can be found on the Council website. Additional times and locations will be added throughout the year.” 

Councillor Williamson continued, “This is really a great opportunity to brush up on your numeracy skills, better manage your finances or learn to cook. Have a look at what is on offer for you next year!”
