Classic festive films and cinematic celebrations of Scotland will be entertaining moviegoers at Kirkintilloch Town Hall in the coming weeks.

The Kirky Picture Palace is back from Friday (15 December) with a dementia-friendly screening of White Christmas (U) at 2pm. Tickets cost £5 (adult) and £3 (child), with carers allowed in for free. All welcome. Book online via the Kirkintilloch Picture Palace webpage or pay on the door.

Then on Saturday 23 December you can enjoy a choice of:

  • Elf (PG) – 1pm
  • Home Alone (PG) – 3.30pm
  • It’s A Wonderful Life (U) – 6.30pm

Tickets – £5 per adult and £3 per child – are available from the Kirkintilloch Picture Palace webpage - booking fee applies - and Create ED, 46 Cowgate, Kirkintilloch. There will be snacks and refreshments available to purchase.

There will be a baby-friendly screening of The Polar Express (U) on Tuesday 19 December at 10am. Same ticket prices as above, with under-twos allowed in for free. 

The Picture Palace is organised by Your Kirky (aka Kirkintilloch Community Council) and supported by East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust (EDLCT) – which operates Kirkintilloch Town Hall.

Looking ahead to the new year, there will be a celebration of Scotland on the silver screen at Kirkintilloch Town Hall.

Tickets are now on sale for the Kirky Picture Palace's first Scottish Film Festival – taking place on 27 and 28 January 2024 – including weekend passes and individual movies.

A collection of Caledonian classics will be shown, including:

Saturday 27 January 2024:

  • The Water Horse – Legend of the Deep (PG)
  • Wild Rose (15)
  • Scottish Mussel (15)

Sunday 28 January 2024:

  • Sunshine On Leith (PG)
  • Edie (12A)

There will also be a dementia-friendly screening of I Know Where I'm Going (PG) on Friday 19 January 2024 and a baby-friendly screening of Brave (PG) on Tuesday 30 January 2024 – both of which have a Scottish connection.
