The Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs is preparing to mark a milestone birthday and the search is on for memories!

The popular leisure facility – originally known as Bishopbriggs Sports Centre – was officially opened by HRH Princess Anne on 12 July 1973.

To help mark five decades of swims, workouts, fitness and fun, East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust – which operates the Leisuredrome – is appealing for people to share stories of how they have connected with it over the years.

  • Perhaps you were there when HRH Princess Anne declared it open?
  • Maybe you, your children and even your grandkids learned to swim there?
  • Did you celebrate a memorable birthday at the soft play?
  • Or perhaps you just love to drop in for a weekly cuppa and a chat?

Get in touch with the Leisuredrome – you could have a starring role in the centre’s 50th birthday celebrations!

Jim Neill, Chair of EDLC Trust, said,

The Leisuredrome – originally known as Bishopbriggs Sports Centre – has helped thousands and thousands of people to get fit, play games, have fun and enjoy sport over the last five decades. We would love to hear from people about how the centre has been part of their lives.
