Families in East Dunbartonshire who are entitled to a School Clothing Grant for the new academic year can now make their applications online.
Last year the Council doubled the amount of School Clothing Grant to eligible families and this increase remains in place this year to help local families cope with the cost-of-living crisis.
The payment for eligible primary school pupils is £240 while eligible young people at secondary school will be awarded £300. Applications for the grant can be made on the School Clothing Grant web page from today, Thursday 29 June.
A simplified approach for families applying for both free school meals and school clothing grants was introduced in 2020, meaning only one online form need be completed for all eligible children in the household. All supporting documents can be uploaded to the form before it is submitted and the grants are paid directly into bank accounts.
Council Leader, Gordan Low, said,
Cllr Low added, “The cost-of-living remains high and buying everything children need to go back to school at the start of the new term is costly, so I hope the School Clothing Grant goes some way towards easing the pressure on families struggling in this current financial climate.”
