Scotland loves local week
Scotland Loves Local Week – August 26 to 1 September 2024 – is focusing the spotlight on the critical difference that choosing local can mean to the future of communities, as well as showcasing great work taking place across the country to build stronger and more sustainable places.
Kirkintilloch and Milngavie Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have signed the Scotland Loves Local Pledge to reaffirm their commitment to shops, services, businesses, towns and villages in East Dunbartonshire.
Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of the Council, said,
Gift card is a great way to support businesses

Jim Hopkins, Chair of Kirkintilloch BID, said, “As the Scotland Loves Local Pledge states: ‘We will choose local, prioritising the people and businesses around us at every opportunity.’
“We are fully behind ongoing efforts to support town and village centres, including the East Dunbartonshire Gift Card. Please choose local whenever possible.”
Graeme Ross, Chair of Milngavie BID, said, “We were pleased to sign the pledge – reaffirming our commitment to local businesses, shops, hospitality venues and service providers – which are at the heart of the area’s economy.”
Scotland’s Towns Partnership (STP) is the organisation which spearheads the Scotland Loves Local campaign, with backing from the Scottish Government.
