Community groups are being invited to follow in the wake of Caurnie Angling Club – which recently netted a funding boost to help it power forward with improvement plans.

The next round of East Dunbartonshire Council’s Community Grants Scheme will be open for applications between 1 and 26 July 2024.

It’s a chance for organisations carrying out work at the heart of local towns and villages to apply for either a grant of up to £5,000 or a grant of up to £10,000. The maximum, over the course of the year, a group can ask for is £15,000.

Organisations who would like further information or support are being invited to a workshop in Auchinairn Community Centre (Beech Road, G64 1NE) on Monday 17 June, from 6-8pm.

It's a chance to gain a comprehensive understanding of the application process, learn how to navigate grant guidance and eligibility criteria, and to connect with a supportive network. Book via email – communityplanning@eastdunbarton.gov.uk

Caurnie Angling Club was awarded funding in a previous round to help with facility improvements at Antermony Loch, just outside Milton of Campsie.

Secretary Brian Munro said, “Members of the club are grateful to the Council for supporting our off-grid power project via the Community Grants Scheme. We would commend any group to consider it as a source of funding for viable projects which may need external support to make them happen. We were absolutely delighted.”

The online form, guidance and eligibility criteria can be found on the Council website (link opens in new window).

Applications are being invited from groups which:

  • Have a constitution
  • Have a bank account
  • Are not for profit
  • Aim to bring benefits to the residents of East Dunbartonshire.

Funding can be sought for start-up costs, special projects, equipment and salaries.

If any individual or group is unfamiliar with the application process and needs assistance, the Council’s Community Planning team can be contacted by emailing communityplanning@eastdunbarton.gov.uk or calling 0300 123 4510.

Applications are assessed by the Grants Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations for awards to the Community Planning Partnership (CPP) Board. The board is expected to next meet around the end of September, after which applicants will be informed if they have been successful.

The CPP includes representatives of the Council, the Health and Social Care Partnership, Police Scotland, East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, the Leisure and Culture Trust, and other organisations providing public services locally.

The closing date for applications is noon on Friday 26 July 2024.
