Fledgling fitness fans are being given a sporting chance to enjoy first-class facilities thanks to East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust.

Discounted memberships are available for 12 to 17-year-olds until September 2024 – offering gym and swim access across all three of the local leisure centres.

It follows the completion of the Council's cost-of-living programme, which inspired thousands of school pupils to get active for free.

We're pleased to be able to offer young people the chance to enjoy our first-class gym and swim facilities at a bargain price
Councillor Jim Gibbons, Chair of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture (EDLC) Trust

Discounted memberships are available until September at the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden, Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre and the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs.

"The previous programme delivered thousands of sessions, with gym membership among secondary school pupils up from 10.3% to 32.6%. We really want to keep the positive momentum going, while striving to keep activities as affordable as possible in the current financial climate. Swimming remains free for under-fives."

To access the discounted membership, an adult or carer must sign up for a direct debit on the young person's behalf at one of the three local centres.
