The Provost’s Community Champion Awards are back for 2024 and you can get involved!
Provost Gillian Renwick launched the East Dunbartonshire Champion Awards last year, to recognise those that make an outstanding contribution to their community.
The inaugural Awards acknowledged the inspiring work of seven local people who were all nominated by friends, family, neighbours and colleagues for the fantastic work they do to support others and improve their local area.
Nominations for the 2024 Community Champion Awards are now welcome in the following six categories:
- Community Champion
- Young Champion
- Caring Champion
- Sports Champion
- Arts & Heritage Champion
- Sustainability Champion
“I’m pleased to announce that we’re now looking for nominations for the 2024 Awards. Nominees should demonstrate inspiring qualities and the role they carry out or the project they are involved in should have brought about positive change.
“You may know someone who has volunteered in their community, spends their free time ensuring East Dunbartonshire’s heritage is preserved, or is active in working to improve sustainability and mitigate climate change locally.
“Anyone can be nominated as long as they live, work or attend school or college in East Dunbartonshire and the closing date for nominations is Thursday 6 June.
“The Depute Provost and I will then judge all the submissions and we’ll announce the winners on Friday 14 June. Good luck, and I can’t wait to read all the entries.”
To be considered for an Award, nominees must live, work or attend school or college in East Dunbartonshire.

The Provost will arrange to present the winner of each category with their Award following the announcement and the winners of all categories will be invited to attend the Civic Reception at the Gala Night of the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival, on Saturday 31 August, as guests of the Provost.
