The UK Parliamentary General Election on Thursday 4 July 2024 is only weeks away with important dates now being confirmed.
The countdown to the election will officially begin on Friday 31 May at 5pm when the Returning Officer for the constituency of Mid Dunbartonshire County will publish the Notice of Election.
Potential candidates can request nomination packs by emailing election@eastdunbarton.gov.uk
Nominations may then be submitted from Monday 3 June to Friday 7 June between 10am and 4pm at the Council Headquarters, 12 Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch.

Prospective candidates should note that submitted nomination papers must be in hard copy and include a wet signature - emailed packs or photocopies will not be accepted.
Please also note that payment of the £500 fee must be made in advance via East Dunbartonshire Council online payments

It is important to remember that there are changes to voting for this election.
All residents in East Dunbartonshire who are eligible to and want to vote must know the following:
- If you are not registered to vote you must do so before Tuesday 18 June.
- If you are unable to vote in person, you can apply for a postal vote. The deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 19 June.
- If you are unable to vote in person and you would rather vote by proxy, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
- You must take photo ID to the polling station to cast your vote. If after you’ve checked what forms of ID are acceptable you need to apply for an alternative form of ID, you must do this by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June.
