Festival is a splash hit as thousands set a course for Kirkintilloch
Aquatic adventures, marvellous music and fun for all the family – the 2024 Kirkintilloch.
From toe-tapping tunes, boat trips and thrilling fairground rides to high-flying teddy bears, stalls and classic cars, the weekend offered a huge range of entertainment and attractions.
Saturday evening was lit up by live music and fireworks at Southbank Marina, while the Sunday Funday offered a chance to get active with canoeing, climbing, archery, roller skating and more at the Marina, as well as delights at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church, Regent Gardens, Barleybank, Cowgate, St Mary’s Parish Church and Kirkintilloch Police Station.
Thousands of people visited the town during the main weekend of the festival – organised by East Dunbartonshire Council in conjunction with a range of partners, and externally supported by EventScotland’s National Events Funding Programme and the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund.
Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of the Council, said,
Well done to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to deliver the event and a huge thanks to all who came along – you were the stars of the show.
"As well as entertaining thousands of people, the festival also helped to support shops and hospitality venues in East Dunbartonshire – boosting the local economy and rounding off Scotland Loves Local Week in style.”
- The festival includes partners such as East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, Kirkintilloch Baptist Church, the Regent Centre, Police Scotland, the Forth and Clyde Canal Society, the Seagull Trust, Scottish Canals, Your Kirky and Kirkintilloch Business Improvement District (BID)
