Have your say and help to guide active travel in East Dunbartonshire.
Consultation is taking place on how best to make walking, wheeling and cycling the first and natural choice for local everyday trips.
East Dunbartonshire Council is currently seeking views on the draft Active Travel Strategy 2 (ATS2). The closing date is 15 November 2026.
You can find out more and have a say online by visiting the Active Travel Strategy 2 Consultation page.
Alternatively, a series of drop-in sessions are being held across the area:
- Mugdock Country Park (meeting room in Courtyard) – Thursday 15 October 2026, between noon and 4pm
- Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre – Thursday 22 October, between 3pm and 7pm
- Lennoxtown Library – Tuesday 27 October, between noon and 4pm
- Bishopbriggs Library – Thursday 29 October, between 2pm and 6pm
- Milngavie Library – Wednesday 4 November, between 1pm and 5pm
- Bearsden Community Hub (Lesser Hall) – Monday 9 November, between 3pm and 7pm.
All responses received during the consultation will be considered when finalising the ATS2.
Once approved, the 10-year strategy will set out policies and actions to boost active travel locally.
The mission of ATS2 is that: “Walking, wheeling or cycling will be the first and natural choice for local everyday trips.”
Creating the conditions to support enhanced active travel will play a vital role in improving environmental, health and wellbeing, and inclusive growth outcomes for residents, as well as those working, studying and visiting the area.
It supports and ties in with other Council’s strategies, such as the Climate Action Plan – which was approved in June, following public consultation in late 2025.
Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said, "I hope as many people as possible are able to provide their views on the draft Active Travel Strategy 2.
“This is a journey we need to make together, so it's vital that we gather as much feedback as possible."
The new strategy will help to deliver a number of significant benefits and ensure that East Dunbartonshire is in as strong a position as possible to attract external funding for delivery.
