Certificates of birth, death, and marriage

Extracts of birth, death, marriage and civil partnership certificates are available from any registration office in Scotland. There are certain details you will need to provide before a copy can be issued.

Information you should provide:

• Birth - Full name (at time of registration), date and place of birth
• Death - Full name, date of death and place of death
• Marriage / Civil Partnerships - full names of bride and groom or civil partners, date of marriage or partnership, place of marriage or partnership.

Extracts can be obtained on payment of the statutory fee of £15, which includes a £5 statutory search fee. If you purchase an extract within 1 month from the date of registration the statutory fee of £10 applies.
