The Lennoxtown Greenspace project aims to improve local wellbeing and encourage greater use of the town’s greenspaces.

The project is one of three regeneration projects currently underway in Lennoxtown:

The design process was informed through community consultation in June 2023. One of the main improvements will be the repurposing of disused red blaes pitches at Station Road Park and Ferguson Park to provide outdoor recreation spaces and to enhance the biodiversity in these areas through planting. The works will also improve pedestrian and cycle routes and onward connections to the John Muir way.

The project has been divided into two phases. A successful application to the Scottish Government Vacant and Derelict Land Investment Programme (VDLIP) was confirmed in May 2025. This Scottish Government investment is to help regenerate communities and drive economic growth. The award of £472,952 as part of the 2025-26 programme and will to used on the phase 1 works.

Phase 1 will focus on Station Road Park where the key interventions will include:

  • Improved wayfinding and enhanced access points
  • New pathways and improved connectivity
  • Creation of a community growing area
  • Planting of native species and fauna
  • Landscaping features such as benches and art installations
  • Renewed fencing to the grass football pitch
  • Outdoor play space.

It is anticipated that the works will begin in 2026 when conditions are most suitable.
